CV staining (a-c) and F-J B histofluorescence staining (d-f) in gerbil hippocampal CA1–3 regions of the vehicle-sham group (a), vehicle-ischemia group (b) and 10 mg/kg BF-7-ischemia group (c) at 7 days after transient forebrain ischemia. In the vehicle-ischemia group, pyramidal neurons in the CA1–3 regions show weak CV stainability and no F-J B histofluorescence. In contrast, in the 10 mg/kg BF-7-ischemia group, cells in the stratum pyramidale (SP) are well stained with CV, showing that a few F-J B positive cells are detected in the SP.
